Project OverviewBlackwood Leather is a high-end brand that manufactures and sells luxury leather products, with an emphasis on craftsmanship and quality. The brand also produces its own leather, reinforcing its commitment to authenticity and control over quality.I was tasked with creating a minimal, classy logo that could represent Blackwood Leather across premium products, packaging, and digital spaces.

Design Process & Concept

LogomarkI explored various forms of the letter "B" before settling on a unique solution:
A serif “B” containing a negative space “L”, subtly embedded in its structure.
This design communicates the duality of the brand name — Blackwood and Leather — in a way that's refined and understated. The use of serif edges was intentional to emphasize tradition and class, while the clean construction of the negative space L adds a modern, confident twist.

Typography"BLACKWOOD" is set in Minion Variable Concept, a serif typeface that exudes luxury and classic appeal, reinforcing the premium nature of the brand."LEATHER" is paired with a minimal sans-serif font, offering a clean contrast and adding to the visual hierarchy.This combination of serif and sans-serif styles mirrors the brand’s balance between heritage craftsmanship and modern design sensibilities.
Sketches & RefinementMultiple logo variations were explored during the sketching phase. I iterated through different concepts for the "B" and experimented with how to incorporate the "L" before settling on the final monogram. The selected version achieved the perfect balance of clarity, creativity, and elegance.
